Shousang seal, “Reclining Beast”, Qing Dynasty

A Shoushan stone seal carved in a warm orange hue, with an oval base. The upper part depicts a reclining mythical beast, with its body curled up, its head tilted to one side and its tail tucked beneath its body. It has a serene expression, a sharp beak and prominent claws. The impression surface features carved characters. It is presented with its case, lined in blue fabric. Qing Dynasty (1644–1912).   or later.
