Shoushan figure, ‘Luohan at rest’, Qing dynasty

Made of Shoushan stone in multiple shades, ranging from ivory to deep amber, with gold accents on the folds of the clothing. It depicts a luohan sitting in a relaxed posture, holding a mythical beast on his knee while carrying a ruyi, an auspicious symbol, in his other hand. The piece is accompanied by a base carved from the same stone with openwork detailing.
