Description.

A carved Shoushan stone in deep honey tones, with a square base. The top features a highly dynamic depiction of a Chiwen dragon alongside its young, emerging from a dense bed of waves and sinuous clouds carved in relief. The creature has the head of a ferocious dragon and the body of a fish, with carving that precisely defines the scales, manes and features of the creatures. On one side of the base, the inscription ‘康熙四十年收’ is preserved. The seal base retains traces of cinnabar and features characters carved in seal script. Qing Dynasty (1644–1912).
