It is an elegant Victorian-style plate warmer or rubbing mat, made of silver-plated metal and designed to keep food warm during service. The structural assembly comprises three main elements. The base consists of a three-legged cabriole stand, richly ornamented at the top with floral reliefs and scroll motifs, which curve gently downwards to terminate in stylized claw feet. In the center of this base, a suspended metal ring houses the original alcohol burner. The main circular bowl rests on this frame. A prominent, convex, semi-spherical lid crowns the piece, distinguished by its profuse decoration engraved with intricate motifs of vegetal scrolls, acanthus leaves, and geometric details chiseled into the metal.
