Description.
Oil on canvas mounted on cardboard. A Baroque-style religious painting depicting Saint Francis of Paola in prayer, contemplating the radiant motto "CHARITAS" amidst cherubs. The central motif shows the saint with his hands clasped in fervent prayer, his gaze directed towards heaven. He wears a dark habit and holds a staff resting on his right shoulder. Before him lie an open book and a human skull, classic symbols and iconography of penance and meditation on mortality. At the top of the scene, amidst celestial clouds of gold and ochre tones, the blurred faces of cherubs appear, accompanying the saint's mystical experience.
