Description.
Religious scene depicting the Virgin Mary with the Child. The painting portrays a touching and tender scene of the Virgin of Bethlehem with the Baby Jesus, wrapped in white swaddling clothes, resting in her lap. The composition, of classical design, draws on earlier depictions of the same Virgin, following traditional iconographic models. Set in a period gold frame. No visible signature. It shows cracks and imperfections in the paint layer typical of its age.
