Description.
A carved spinach green jade bianhu vase, flattened and oval, with a rectangular neck and crowned by a domed lid. The jade is a deep, dark green colour, with a speckled pattern of lighter inclusions. It is adorned with two side handles representing elegant phoenixes from which carved rings hang. The main decoration is a large floral medallion in the centre, surrounded by the Eight Buddhist Treasures encircled by fine scrolls. The vase is presented on a carved wooden base. Qing dynasty (1644–1912).
