Description.
Spinach green jade with chromatic variations and natural reddish and black veins. The piece features a morphology inspired by ancient ritual bronzes with a circular body, domed lid and two imposing side handles. The ornamentation stands out for its complex relief carving. The side handles represent the heads of mythical beasts, from which hanging rings dangle. Both the body and the lid are covered with an intricate design of stylized taotie masks and leiwen cloud motifs. It shows patina due to age. Qing dynasty (1644–1912).
