A stoneware bowl with a black glaze. The piece has a deep, open shape, with a slightly outward-curving rim and a narrow base. The interior is decorated with a negative decoration depicting a phoenix in flight with flowering branches, in stark contrast to the dark background. The surface shows a fine crackle characteristic of enamel. The base is unglazed at the support ring, leaving the beige paste visible. Jizhou kiln.
