The People's Bank of China’ commemorative banknote albums, 20th century

Set of two commemorative albums issued by the People's Bank of China, presented in cases and hard covers decorated in red tones with gilt details and official coats of arms. The first album corresponds to the second series of the Renminbi, showing a collection of banknotes issued between 1955 and 1964, with descriptions in Chinese and English, arranged in fold-out pages with ornamental frames. The second album contains the fifth Renminbi series, with contemporary banknotes issued from 1999 onwards, all featuring Mao Zedong, also presented in an exhibition format, with technical information on each banknote. Both issues are noteworthy for their collectibility and neat presentation, reflecting the evolution of paper money in China.
