Three-bead agate ‘Dzi’ pendant, Liao dynasty

Composed of three agate beads in shades of white, bluish grey, ochre and brown. It has a central barrel-shaped bead flanked by two cylindrical beads, all of which stand out for their parallel line patterns and a central perforation for stringing on a contemporary braided cord. The surface shows signs of polishing and patina due to age. Liao Dynasty (916–1125) or later.
