‘Tiger and Poem’ porcelain vase, Republic of China

Made of porcelain. It has a cylindrical body, with flat shoulders and a slightly flared neck. The piece is notable for its pictorial decoration, depicting a roaring tiger in a beautiful mountain landscape beside a waterfall. The reverse bears an inscription in black ink. The neck and shoulder are richly decorated with geometric borders and foliage motifs. The base bears the maker’s mark (毕渊明).
