Description.
Carved white Hetian jade figure. It is adorned with a lion and its cub, the adult lion depicted in a protective pose, curled up next to the cub. The details of the adult's mane and facial features are elaborately sculpted. The piece is presented on a dark carved wooden base with a deep openwork design of cloud scrolls, supporting the figure on its back. Qing dynasty (1644–1912).
