Description.
White Hetian jade with beautiful honey-coloured or ochre-coloured veins. The carving depicts a ‘literary landscape’ (shanshui) featuring a mountainous scene with pine trees and a small pavilion housing a figure in meditation. An engraved poem is inscribed on one of its flat sides. The piece sits on a wooden base, profusely carved with motifs of tree trunks and lingzhi. Qing Dynasty (1644–1912). or later.
