Description.
Carved in white jade of a uniform tone with veins and spots of brown patina, mainly in the head and back. It represents a reclining lion in a resting position. The head, of balanced proportions, features rounded, bulging eyes, a short snout, and discreetly marked ears. The mane is suggested by wavy crests on the head. The body is compact, with soft, rounded shapes, with the front legs extended, and the hind legs tucked to the side. The tail curves elegantly to one side. The jade is finely polished, highlighting the smoothness of the surfaces and the quality of the stone. Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
