A white translucent jade sculpture depicting Guanyin, the female deity of mercy, seated in a meditative posture or vajrasana on a base in the form of a sculpted lotus flower with petals. The whole is framed by an almond-shaped nimbus or halo, finely indented in outline, with a perforation at the top indicating its possible use as a pendant. The reverse shows a slight ochre patina produced by the antiquity. Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
