Description.

A sculpture carved in white jade of uniform tone with subtle honey-coloured veins, depicting Guanyin seated on a reclining elephant. The figure wears a flowing, broadly folded robe, decorated with a beaded necklace draped across the chest. The face shows a serene and compassionate expression, with narrowed eyes and softly curved lips. Her hair is arranged in a high bun, topped with a simple headdress. In her hands she holds a sphere, possibly a pearl of wisdom. The elephant, a symbol of strength and wisdom, rests with its legs folded, partially covered by the deity's robes. The piece exhibits meticulous work on the details of the face, hands and textile folds, highlighting the technical mastery of jade carving. Qing Dynasty (1644-12) or later.
