Description.
A beautiful carved jade figure, of a soft white colour with fine milky veining. It shows the free-standing image of a hare, lying on its bent legs and rounded belly. The animal is shown serene, with a short, pompous tail, a refined face, large, rounded eyes and long ears resting on its back. The craftsman's work is notable for the meticulousness of the details that add dynamism and liveliness to the piece. It shows patina due to its age. Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
