White jade figurine "Reclining Beast", Qing Dynasty

Sculpture carved in translucent white jade with slight natural veins. It depicts a fantastic creature with a robust, curved body in a recumbent pose, with legs tucked under its belly. The head, with stylized features, has prominent eyes, open jaws and a wavy mane. The back shows a line of rounded ridges, while the tail curls in a spiral to the side. The surface is polished, with incised details suggesting scales and folds. Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
