Description.

Carved from milky-white jade, with areas of natural honey-coloured veining and intensified reddish rust on the upper part, which are skilfully used to accentuate certain details. It depicts a mythological creature with a compact body and recumbent posture, with a raised head and an energetic gaze. The facial features, such as bulging eyes, broad muzzle and scrolling eyebrows, are carefully defined. The mane, tail and limbs are outlined with spiral motifs and curved lines, evoking the symbolic style reserved for protective beasts such as the bixie. Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
