Description.
Sculpture carved in translucent white jade depicting a reclining sage or scholar with his head turned to the left and a contemplative expression. The figure rests with one arm on a rectangular cushion and holds his other hand on his knee in a relaxed pose. He wears a flowing tunic with well-defined folds that envelops his body and falls naturally to his feet. The face is detailed with a long beard and pronounced eyebrows, and the hair is tied in a high bun. Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
