Description.
A sculpture carved in white jade depicting a Buddhist monk with a smiling face and a jovial expression. The figure is shown standing, wrapped in a robe with wide folds that fall to the base. He holds a fruit-bearing branch over his shoulder, while in his other hand he holds a bead or mala necklace. The jade, creamy white with slightly amber areas, has a polished finish that emphasizes the volumes of the face and the smooth texture of the robes. Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
