Description.

The lid is carved in translucent white jade with reddish and amber flecks, with a conical shape and flat oval base, profusely fret worked to depict a naturalistic scene of deer among stylized branches. The work is detailed, with well-defined silhouettes of the animals in different postures and curved-edged foliage that intertwines with dynamism. The base has regular perforations that indicate its function as a lid for a censer or similar object. Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
