Description.
Pendant carved in translucent white jade representing a smiling Buddha, also known as Budai (布袋), a figure associated with abundance, joy and good fortune. The face shows affable expression, with marked lines on eyebrows, eyes and mouth, and sculpted hair on top. Polished surface and mounted on modern red cord. Very popular symbol during the Qing dynasty, linked to well-being and auspicious laughter. Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
