Description.
A finely carved white jade plaque, rectangular in shape with lobed edges, clouded upper borders and a wavy lower border. The obverse shows the figure of Guanyin seated on a Buddhist lion (shishi), wearing fine robes and with a large border framing his head, a symbol of protection. The reverse shows a calligraphic inscription. The piece has a hole at the top, probably to be used as a pendant. The jade is evenly toned and matt-polished. Qing dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
