Description.
Sculpture carved in white jade of uniform tone with natural inclusions in ochre tones, representing two large peaches, one of which is larger and vertically raised. The composition is surrounded by leaves of sinuous branches with details engraved in low relief and carved at different depths, skilfully using more translucent areas of the mineral. On the back of the piece are three bats in flight, their stylized, curved wings harmoniously integrated into the surface of the jade. The whole rests on a wooden base carved with intertwined vegetal forms. This iconography features two highly symbolic elements: the peach (symbol of longevity) and the bat (symbol of fortune). Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
Size: 9.5 x 5 x 8 cm
