Description.
Figure carved in white jade with natural inclusions in ochre and greyish tones, depicting a phoenix, a symbol of nobility and renewal, reclining with a curved body. The bird has a head turned towards the body, with a curved beak and a detailed crest. The wings are folded over the back and decorated with parallel incised lines, while the finely crafted tail feathers unfurl in openwork curls. The surface is polished, with areas of natural patina from ageing. Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
