White jade seal ‘Mythical Beast’, Qing dynasty

Oval-shaped seal carved from white jade, with rounded edges. It is adorned with a mythical beast seated in a noble pose, with its body upright and its head raised with a serene expression. The carving highlights the long mane and stylised horns. The matrix shows the engraved characters ‘古稀堂’. Qing dynasty (1644–1912).
