Description.
Crafted from quartz of exceptional purity and a translucent hue. The piece depicts a mythical beast in a crouching posture with its head raised, carved in the round and decorated with engraved details that outline its form and cover the body with scrolls and latticework patterns. It features a central hole for hanging. Zhou Dynasty (1046–256 BC) or later.
