Description.
Translucent white quartz with profuse pinkish infiltration of oxides and traces of ritual cinnabar. The piece depicts a crouching figure with outstretched hands and bent legs. It is notable for its bas-relief decoration of archaic-style geometric patterns. It shows patina due to ageing. Eastern Zhou Dynasty (770–256 BC) or later.
