Description.
Comprising a jadeite plaque and a finely carved mahogany wood support. The jadeite is bluish-green in colour with intense emerald-coloured spots. It features intricate relief carving on both sides: the front shows a ceremonial elephant, a symbol of peace and wisdom, detailed with fine incisions. The reverse features a bas-relief of clouds, in the centre of which is a circular medallion with the character ‘Tai Ping’.
The plaque hangs from a wooden support carved with openwork dragon motifs, scrolls and lingzhi branches. Qing dynasty (1644–1911).
