Description.
Yellow-green jade with dark areas of reddish-brown patina. It features a round carving of a lioness reclining next to her cub on a large leaf, the underside of which has been used to carve a butterfly in relief. Iconographically, the lioness with her cub symbolises the continuity of lineage and family protection. Qing dynasty (1644–1911).
