Description.
A carefully carved sculpture in yellow jade from Hetian, depicting an immortal with an affable expression. The figure is shown standing, wrapped in a robe of billowing folds. In his right hand he holds a staff, from which two fruit stalks hang. The face, with rounded features, shows a serene smile, with marked eyebrows and softly sculpted eyes that reinforce the figure's benevolent character. The upper part of the sculpture has a natural reddish hue, which gradually fades to a lighter yellow in the lower part. The figure rests on a dark wooden base finely carved with sinuous cloud motifs. Qing dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
