Description.
Sculpture carved from warm ochre-coloured yellow jade. It depicts a swan or water bird in a resting position, with its legs hidden and its long neck elegantly curved backwards, resting its head on its back. The smooth, rounded body shows details of the plumage through simple, geometric incised lines. Shang dynasty (c. 1600-1046 BC). o posterior.
