Description.
Carved from natural nephrite jade of an intense dark green hue, with areas of reddish-ochre patina. The sculpture takes the classic form of a ‘Dragon-Piglet’, with a tubular, C-shaped body and a large head featuring circular eyes, erect ears and a prominent snout. It features a hole for use as a pendant. Hongshan culture (c. 4700–2900 BC) or later.
