A. Bastit, ‘Bone fan with three scenes’, 19th century

A large, hand-painted semi-circular fan featuring three scenes set in a palatial garden with various figures. The lower section of the sides is lavishly decorated with Rococo-style gold borders, scrollwork and plant motifs. Signed ‘A. Bastit’ on the right-hand side. The frame is made of finely carved bone. The central section (upper part of the frame) is particularly striking, featuring openwork medallions with small cherubs.
