Agate Dzi Bead ‘Banzhu’, Liao Dynasty

‘Banzhu’ (板珠) agate bead, flat circular shape. The piece stands out for its natural veining in the form of a central ‘eye’, with concentric bands in cream, grey and translucent brown tones. The surface is smoothly polished with an antique patina. It has a transverse perforation. Liao Dynasty (907–1125) or later.
