Description.

Oil on canvas. The painting depicts a mature gentleman with a gray beard and serene gaze, portrayed in three-quarter view and dressed in an elegant period brown suit, white shirt, and dark tie. A pocket watch with its chain on his waistcoat and a cigarette held in his left hand are prominent features. The figure is set in a luminous outdoor environment reminiscent of Valencian costumbrismo and luminism, surrounded by a lush garden rendered with loose, impasto brushstrokes, where orange trees laden with fruit, reddish flowers, and shrubs are visible. The artist's mastery is evident in the careful treatment of light on the face and hands, as well as in the rich chromatic palette of greens, earth tones, and subtle floral contrasts. The piece is displayed in a varnished hardwood frame with a gilt interior fillet. The painting was cropped; it was originally a full-length portrait, hence the absence of a signature.

Size: 92 x 80 cm; Size with frame: 106 x 92 cm
