Carved jade disc ‘Bi’, Liangzhu culture

Carved from olive green jade with a profuse patina mottled with ochre, reddish and whitish tones. It has the classic shape of a flat circular disc with a central perforation. The surface has a silky polish, with marks and wear that attest to its great age. Liangzhu culture (approx. 3300–2300 BC) or later.
