Carved jade pendant ‘Beast’, Hongshan culture

Made of pale green jade with areas of reddish-brown mineral patina. The piece depicts a reclining animal with a compact body and limbs tucked under its torso. It stands out for its smooth modelling of rounded volumes and facial features suggested by reliefs. Hongshan culture (approx. 4700–2900 BC) or later.
