Ceramic jug from Talavera de la Reina, Modesta Diaz, 1865

Glazed ceramic (majolica). Globular jug from Talavera de la Reina, polychromed in blue, yellow and ochre. The shoulders bear the inscription ‘MODESTA DÍAZ’ and ‘AÑO DE 1865’ (Year 1865), flanked by medallions decorated with a temple and floral motifs. The rest of the body is decorated with garlands and striated textures, and the central image of a virgin.
