Ceramic panel ‘Encounter at the Lotus Pond’, 20th century

Glazed porcelain plate with enamelled decorations. It depicts a scene known in Buddhist culture as the meeting at the lotus pond with the great Buddha Amitabha, depicted in the centre with two beautiful Bodhisattvas, all of them covered in long robes and with celestial halos on their heads. 

The plaque is set on a carved wooden stand with openwork details of lotuses and branches.
