Jesús de Miguel Alcántara (1958-2022) ‘Deep’

Oil on canvas. Limestone or granite formations occupy most of the space, revealing geometric cracks, fractures, and a rugged texture.   The sea reveals the depths of a crystal-clear body of water in shades of navy blue. In the background, a swimmer or diver plunges in with outstretched arms, leaving a trail of bubbles and sparkles in their wake that breaks the stillness and darkness of the water. Signed “J. Miguel Alcántara” in the lower left corner of the work. Title, signature, medium, and dimensions indicated on the reverse.
