Kutani porcelain dish, Japan, Meiji period (1890 - 1920)

Circular dish with raised rim in enamelled and gilded porcelain. It depicts dignitaries and ladies of the court, in cartouches of different shapes, surrounded by a red background with a lattice pattern in gilt. The reverse shows a five-character mark, in red and in the centre, and on the rim bouquets of realistic flowers.
