Large-scale doll, JR, Europe, early 20th century

Classic biscuit porcelain doll. Head and limbs in fine matt porcelain with the hand-written monogram ‘RJ’ engraved on the nape of the neck; fixed blue glass eyes and an open mouth with teeth. Rigid papier-mâché torso; the porcelain on the right foot has severe impact damage and the fingers of both hands are stuck together. Includes a matching wrought-iron chair and period costume.
