Pair of Windsor armchairs, ca. 1860

Two solid elm Windsor armchairs. From the workshop of George Nicholson. The armchair retains its characteristic elm seat and bears a signature on the side reading “NICHOLSON ROCKLEY”. With turned legs and openwork decoration in the centre of the backrest, it shows wear to the varnish on the armrests, consistent with its age and use.
