Porcelain plate featuring the ‘Sampaio e Melo Family Crest’, 20th century

A plate of Chinese export porcelain, decorated with polychrome enamels and gold. In the centre is the coat of arms of the Sampaio e Melo family, featuring a quartered field with eagles and chequered patterns, surmounted by a noble’s crown and a crest bearing an eagle motif. The rim is decorated with a border of lotus flowers and peonies. On the reverse, it bears a six-character mark: ‘大清乾隆年制’.
