Ruyi carved wood “Lingzhi”, Qing dynasty

Ruyi carved in wood with a warm tone. The head, in the form of a cloud (yún), features an elaborate relief of lingzhi mushrooms (靈芝). The stems extend continuously along the body integrating with the silhouette of the piece. This kind of object had a ceremonial and symbolic use, emblem of authority and bearer of good wishes. Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) or later.
