Description.
Ink and pigments on silk. It has a rectangular format, showing the image of the so-called ‘White Tara’ or ‘白度母’ seated in dhyana mudra on a lotus throne. Her torso is bare, while the shoulders and legs are covered with fine, colourful embroidered cloth. The face is serene, with narrowed eyes, long ears and lips in a faint smile, and above it is a tall wreath of flowers and jewels with the central image of a small Buddha. In his left hand he holds a large blue lotus flower. Surrounding the deity is a beautiful circular halo, decorated with spiral patterns and beautiful flowering branches. The painting is placed on a traditional frame of fabric embroidered with scrolls and floral patterns.
