Yoruba Figure ‘Motherhood’, Nigeria, 20th century

Sculpture modelled after African art. Made from wood, the piece depicts a woman breastfeeding a child with a second child on her back. The main figure is notable for her hairstyle and tribal markings, along with pronounced facial features. 

It shows wear due to age.
